Snow Season is almost here

As a snow removal contractor, what does this mean for you?
While we are just beginning to see fall weather here in the Hudon Valley, October is right around the corner. While it might sound crazy to hear, this is what we refer to as Snow Season here at Antalek & Moore. While it is still too warm to bind coverage for insurance policies for companies that provide snow removal services, it is the perfect time to discuss what that coverage looks like for you and your business.
While the insurance market may be limited for contractors providing large commercial real estate customers (think big box stores, shopping malls and condominium complexes), we are still your advocate on negotiating with insurance companies requirements in regards to contractual liability. This is one of the main hurdles we face as companies will provide coverage at a low rate but the game tends to change when contractural liability is requested. In a market like New York, there hasn’t been legislation passed to help Snow Contractors from unfair contract language or third party slips-and-fall claims, so the insurance market remains tight.
Many of the snow contractors we work with understand the complexities of the contracts they are signing. As your advisors, we work with you to review the contract as well as the insurance requirement details prior to submitting a proposal. Contractors know there is an insurance cost they must consider when submitting a bid. While we are not attorneys and don’t give legal advice, we see the type of insurance requirements that are required and assist to the best of our ability, projecting an estimated insurance or risk factor.
It was vital for Antalek & Moore to adapt to the changes in the marketplace. We not only have to act as risk advisors but as an advocate for our clients as well. Our job is to communicate the positive risk management changes that have been implemented into their operations to reduce the overall exposure. We pride ourselves to be solid advisors who listen to our clients and not only help them navigate the insurance side but provide advice on the business side as well. Our team assists a prospective client’s in thinking about what types of standards they have internally- this includes documentation, pre-site planning, post-event planning, utilizing technology to not only track storms but tracking equipment at worksites as well.
We have been providing expertise in this industry for over 15 years and are members of Associations that serve these types of business. The Antalek & Moore Team is ready for another season, let us assist you!
